Summer Intern, Process Analytical Technology
The Position
The Process Analytical Technology (PAT) Intern will support Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals’ advancement toward automated and continuous manufacturing by contributing to the development and optimization of analytical technologies used to monitor product manufacturing. This internship offers hands-on experience working with PAT scientists and Innovation Engineers to generate and analyze real-time manufacturing data. The intern will gain exposure to analytical instrumentation, data modeling, and advanced manufacturing concepts that support both current and future production platforms.
This is an 11-week Summer Internship Program paying $21.00 per hour and requires full-time, onsite work five days per week at the designated location.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and optimization of online, at-line, and in-line analytical technologies used to monitor, analyze, and control manufacturing processes.
- Utilize analytical instrumentation such as IR, UV, and NMR to generate PAT data supporting product and process understanding.
- Support data analysis and model development using PAT-generated data.
- Collaborate on the design, implementation, and validation of new analytical technologies in a manufacturing environment.
- Perform routine analytical testing independently in support of new and ongoing projects.
- Document experimental results and findings to support method development and validation activities.
- Work closely with PAT scientists, Innovation Engineers, and cross-functional manufacturing teams.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled student at an accredited university or college, majoring in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Understanding of analytical chemistry principles and instrumentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated innovation, creativity, and resilience in problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
- Skills and knowledge in handling, analyzing, and characterizing chemicals.
- Experience with statistical data analysis.
- Programming, modeling, or automation experience.
- Interest in continuous manufacturing, process analytics, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Prior laboratory or analytical research experience.
