Police Department Internship
The City of Sterling Heights is seeking innovative and driven individuals for our 2026 College Internship program!
The Program
Our College internship program is designed to provide a challenging and supportive internship experience that has a direct impact on the Sterling Heights community. Interns receive on-the-job training and day-to-day responsibilities that not only contribute to the mission and goals of the team they're working with, but also provide a meaningful experience that can be taken into a career after graduation. Learn more about how a local municipality operates, and apply knowledge from your coursework in a real-world setting!
There are two opportunities available within the Police Department. The Police Officer intern will have the opportunity to spend time in each of the Department's Bureaus, ride-along with Police Officers, and gain exposure related to what a career in Law Enforcement could look like. The Administrative intern will have the opportunity to work alongside the administrative staff who support the department on various strategic projects.
