Estate Planning Legal Intern
Secure Legacy Law Group, P.C. is currently searching for a legal intern who can support attorneys to help strengthen client relationships and provide top-notch service to clients. The legal intern will work directly with attorneys in servicing clients in our Portland office. Secure Legacy Law Group provides estate planning to individuals and couples looking to minimize tax burdens and efficiently transfer their wealth after death.
Individuals best suited for this role have experience and skills with spoken and written communication, using desktop and web-based applications, task management, general office administrative tasks, and willingness to learn and use new skills.
Your Responsibilities – What you will be doing in this role:
- Provide support to attorneys to help effectuate a superior client experience.
- Perform various administrative tasks to support the firm’s attorneys.
- Receive and respond to client inquiries as appropriate. This will include calendaring and coordinating meetings, making and receiving client telephone calls, and forwarding inquiries to the appropriate attorney.
- Format, print, and prepare paperwork for client meetings and estate plan signings ensuring documents are complete and in good order.
- Attending client estate plan signing meetings and acting as a witness or notary for those signings.
- Processing and delivery of signed estate plans, both in paper and digital formats, to clients and others.
- Preparation of cover letters for document transmittal, engagement agreements, and other documents as necessary for serving the clients.
- Maintain a professional demeanor with clients and colleagues.
- Understanding and following the professionalism and ethical rules related to the legal profession.
- Tracking matter
- Support the firm’s initiatives, assist with any firm projects and activities.
Your Experience – What you have been doing:
- Critical thinking and attention to detail.
- Using Microsoft Applications (Word, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.), Adobe, and other web-based applications.
- Exceptional client service skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work on a team and independently.
- Preferred experience includes having or seeking a law degree, and prior experience working in a legal office (or similar office environment).
