Food Service Manager
The Department of Health Services (DHS), Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) is recruiting for a full-time Food Service Manager. This position will work 11:00am-7:30pm and requires work on every fourth weekend and holidays according to rotation/coverage.
CWC provides short-term and long-term residential services to assist people living with intellectual disabilities in acquiring the personal skills needed to reach their highest potential. CWC is located at 317 Knutson Drive on the North side of Madison.

Position Summary
As a Food Service Manager, you will be responsible for the daily operations of patient meal service and the CWC Bistro. You will carry out job duties in administration, customer service, and employee management while maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety to meet standards of regulating entities.
Salary Information
The starting salary is between $30.00 and $33.96 per hour (approximately between $62,400 and $70,600 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
The pay schedule and range is 81/04. Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
Job Details
- All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
- All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
- DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Experience in a leadership role (e.g., mentoring, training, reviewing or assigning work, leading workgroups, etc.).
- Work experience with food production duties (e.g., cooking, following standardized recipes, following proper food handling safety and sanitation practices, etc.).
- Experience with basic commercial food service equipment safety and operations (e.g., ovens, steamers, mixers, blenders, dish machines, etc.).
- Training or experience managing food service inventory (e.g., creating requisitions, monitoring inventory, ordering supplies, etc.).
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Formal supervisory experience (e.g., conducting performance evaluations, interviewing and hiring, administering discipline, resolving conflict, etc.).
- Experience working with computer programs related to food services operations (e.g., Automate, TempTrak, CBORD, etc.).
- Experience providing food service in a long-term care setting or healthcare setting.
- Experience developing and maintaining new menu and recipe items.
