Summer Camp Store Assistant

Working a Summer at camp will give you experience working with kids that will put your future resume to the top of the pile! You will learn behavior management techniques, practice your teaching and instruction skills, learn to build rapport with campers of all ages and experience a diverse community of campers and co-workers.

Position Overview:

Work cooperatively with fellow Camp Store Assistants and the Camp Store Manager to ensure the smooth running of the camp store, gift shop, and care package orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Restock inventory and organize display of store items each day
  • Serve campers and staff during opening hours of assigned store location
  • Ensure store locations and storage areas are cleaned and well maintained
  • Maintain inventory records and request purchase orders in a timely fashion
  • Ensure the safety of all campers when participating in camp activities

Compensation and Benefits:

Starting pay $4000 for 12 week summer. Additional $100 credit in camp store for snacks and supplies. Housing, meals, and laundry included. Weekend work is required, this position requires availability to work on-site 7 days a week for the contract period. 2-hour break provided each day, and 1 scheduled day off each week. Additional leadership training and certifications are available to the right candidates, including high ropes course and lifeguard certifications.

Dates: May 17th- August 8th, 2026.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Completed High School education
  • A desire to positively impact the life of a child and willingness to put the needs of campers first
  • Have a passion for science, animals and childhood development
  • Able to effectively communicate ideas, thoughts and instructions in a constructive manner
  • Self-motivated and able to work on tasks and assigned goals with minimal supervision
  • Be willing to learn new concepts and skills
  • Able to work in a team and both give and take direction from others
  • Willingness to adhere to camp’s code of conduct, rules and policies

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Camp Store Assistants may be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions. An average of 3 miles of walking is expected each day and all staff must be comfortable walking on uneven ground for extended periods. Willing and able to sleep in shared housing in a cabin with other staff or campers, single or private accommodation is not available. Comfortable sleeping outdoors at least one night a week and enthusiastically supporting campers to sleep out. Comfortable being near a range of animals including snakes, spiders, lizards and other native- and non-native species. Able to sustain energy and enthusiasm throughout the full work day. Weekend work is required, this position requires availability to work on-site 7 days a week for the contract period. Functions, activities, and working conditions may change or new ones may be added during the course of employment to support the operations of camp.
