Development & Communications Coordinator

Position Summary

The Development & Communications Coordinator provides hands-on support for fundraising, communications, and community engagement efforts in a small, mission-driven organization. This role works closely with the Development & Communications Director to execute donor communications, marketing initiatives, and program outreach while also supporting daily CSA operations and front-facing member interactions.

The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and comfortable working across communications, development, and light operational support in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Development & Fundraising Support

  • Support donor communications, acknowledgments, and stewardship activities

     
  • Assist with grant research, proposal preparation, and reporting

     
  • Support fundraising campaigns, appeals, and new program launches

     
  • Maintain donor records and assist with basic reporting and data tracking

Marketing & Communications

  • Assist with managing digital communications including email newsletters, social media, and website updates

     
  • Draft and schedule content to support fundraising, programs, and community engagement

     
  • Support messaging for events, campaigns, and organizational announcements

     
  • Ensure communications align with established messaging and brand voice

CSA & Program Support

  • Support Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) communications, including member outreach and updates

     
  • Assist with CSA pick-ups and harvest scheduling (typically daily, in coordination with farm staff)

     
  • Help communicate CSA changes, reminders, and customer service responses

     
  • Provide marketing and communications support for educational programs and community initiatives

Community Engagement & Front Desk Support

  • Provide front desk coverage for approximately one hour each morning, including greeting community members and handling meal or CSA-related payments

     
  • Serve as a welcoming, mission-aligned point of contact for members, partners, and visitors

     
  • Support community outreach efforts and event coordination

Administrative & Team Support

  • Assist with general administrative tasks related to development, communications, and CSA operations

     
  • Collaborate closely with the Development & Communications Director and other staff to ensure smooth workflows

     
  • Support interns or volunteers as needed

     
  • Attending board meetings to assist with note-taking and the meeting process

 

Qualifications

  • Entry-level position but experience in nonprofit communications, development, marketing, or related work is a plus

     
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills

     
  • Willingness to learn tools such as Mailchimp, WordPress, and social media platforms

     
  • Comfort working across both office-based and light operational tasks

     
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a small-team environment

     
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with community members

     
  • Interest in community-based work, food systems, sustainability, education, and social impact

Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience with donor databases or CRMs and fundraising campaigns

     
  • Familiarity with CSA programs, food access initiatives, or community-based agriculture

     
  • Basic understanding of fundraising or grant processes
