Position: Math Tutor    

Position Description: Archbishop Hoban High School is currently seeking a part-time Math Tutor for two days a week (16-20 hours). The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to creating an inclusive and positive learning environment, actively engaging students in meaningful learning experiences while encouraging a high level of academic achievement

Position Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to student instruction and advancement by demonstrating academic competence in subject-specific areas.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and study strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  • Guide the instructional process toward achieving curriculum goals and prepare for exams and assignments.
  • Build meaningful connections and positive working relationships by creating a friendly, encouraging and welcoming environment.
  • Provide learning opportunities that support the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of our students.
  • Assess, measure and document student development and progress.  
  • Work collaboratively to improve instruction and learning while sharing the responsibilities for outcomes with the teachers and principal. 
  • Contribute to and participate in ongoing professional development. 

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid Ohio teaching license or substitute teaching license. 
  • Prior tutoring experience in a school setting is preferred. 
  • Ability to work with school technology (use of academic software, Google, etc.).
  • Appropriate criminal records check by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Have attended or are willing to attend a VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training.
