Physical Education Teacher

Position: 2026-2027 Physical Education Teacher and Wellness Coordinator     

Position Description: Archbishop Hoban High School is seeking a full-time Physical Education Teacher and Wellness Coordinator for the 2026–2027 school year. This position includes instruction of five sections of Physical Education courses aligned with school standards and taught in a modified block schedule format. Our Wellness Program supports students and families in maintaining healthy lifestyles and emphasizes proactive, preventative measures to promote overall well-being. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to creating an inclusive and positive classroom environment, actively engaging students in meaningful learning experiences while encouraging a high level of academic achievement.

Physical Education Responsibilities:

• Create authentic assessments that consistently provide sound practice and feedback, resulting in student growth and development.
• Encourage a classroom culture of mutual respect and build positive relationships with students.
• Evaluate student academic needs and report student progress as scheduled.
• Communicate with parents and/or guardians in a timely manner regarding student progress.
• Incorporate the Holy Cross core values into classroom instruction and daily practices.
• Collaborate with fellow faculty members to design and lead authentic instructional experiences.
• Utilize a variety of instructional technologies in lesson plans and classroom activities to enrich student learning.
• Ensure compliance with all school policies and procedures to maintain a safe and productive environment.
• Participate in school-wide events such as open houses, meet the teacher night and conferences.
• Effective communication, problem-solving and time management skills.
• Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.

Wellness Coordinator Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and execute the school-wide drug testing program in accordance with school policies and procedures. 
• Oversee school-wide student wellness programs.
• Collaborate with school counselors, administrators and faculty to identify students in need of support.
• Support students and families by providing comprehensive mental health and addiction resources and guidance.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all school policies related to student support and wellness.

Position Qualifications: 

• Valid Ohio high school teaching license.
• Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist Certificate, preferred but not required. 
• Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or a related field. 
• Working knowledge of school technology (academic software, Google, etc.).
• Appropriate criminal records check by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Have attended or are willing to attend a VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training.
