About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and curious Marketing Intern to join our onsite marketing team for the summer. This role is designed as a hands-on support and execution position, ideal for an undergraduate student interested in content creation, research, and B2B marketing in a scientific or technical industry.
The intern will contribute to real marketing initiatives and work closely with marketing leadership, business development, and technical subject matter experts across the organization. This is not a shadowing role—you’ll be doing meaningful work while learning how marketing functions inside a regulated, fast-growing company.
What You’ll Work On
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Marketing Research & Insights
- Conduct industry, market, and competitive research to support marketing and business development efforts
- Help build and maintain internal marketing databases, including competitive intelligence and industry ecosystem resources (e.g., biohubs, incubators)
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Support the creation of written marketing content such as articles, case studies, white papers, and internal materials
- Assist with drafting and editing content for LinkedIn and other marketing channels
- Interview internal subject matter experts and translate technical information into clear, engaging marketing narratives
Campaign & Brand Support
- Assist with the planning and execution of LinkedIn campaigns, including brand storytelling and employee-focused initiatives
- Help organize and maintain Afton’s library of marketing assets, including photos, videos, and digital files
- Support consistency of brand voice and messaging across materials
Industry Event & Tradeshow Support
- Assist with preparation for industry conferences and events
- Support event-related documentation, timelines, and internal coordination
- Help track logistics such as materials, shipments, schedules, and vendor needs
- Provide general organizational support before and after events to ensure smooth execution
Marketing Operations & Analytics
- Assist with basic marketing reporting and performance tracking
- Support marketing workflows, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and organization

What We’re Looking For
- Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Life Sciences, or a related field
- Strong written communication skills and interest in content creation
- Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines with guidance
- Curious and comfortable asking questions and working across teams
- Interest in science, healthcare, or manufacturing is a plus (but not required)
Tools & Skills (Experience or Interest In)
- Canva or other basic design tools
- LinkedIn and social media platforms
- Microsoft Word (and basic Excel familiarity)
- AI/LLM tools for research and drafting
- SEO, analytics, or marketing tools such as SEMRush, Looker Studio, Funnel.io, or Buffer (a plus, not required)
Training will be provided; prior experience with these tools is helpful but not required.
