Art Gallery Assistant Intern
The Art Gallery Assistant Intern will support the daily operations of the gallery while gaining hands-on experience in gallery management, exhibitions, and visitor engagement. This internship is ideal for students or emerging professionals interested in art, curation, arts administration, or cultural institutions.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with day-to-day gallery operations, including opening and closing procedures
Support exhibition installation, deinstallation, and preparation
Welcome visitors and provide basic information about exhibitions and artists
Assist with artwork handling, labeling, and inventory management
Support gallery events, openings, and educational programs
Help maintain gallery cleanliness and presentation standards
Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, scheduling, and correspondence
Support marketing efforts, including social media, newsletters, and website updates (if applicable)
Qualifications
Current student or recent graduate in Art History, Fine Arts, Arts Administration, Museum Studies, or a related field (or equivalent interest/experience)
Strong interest in contemporary art and gallery practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Comfortable interacting with the public
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace; social media a plus)
