Position Description: Food Service Intern
General Responsibility: Ability to plan, direct and supervise Camp's food service program for children with disabilities and disadvantaged youth.
Qualifications:
Be 18 years or older.
A student enrolled in an Accredited Undergraduate Dietetic/Nutrition program.
Experience and/or knowledge with the institutional food service setting, Camp experience desirable.
CPR/First Aid/ AED Certification (Certification available during staff training) Supervisory experience.
Experience with planning and preparing well-balanced meals.
Knowledge of standards of food preparation, serving and kitchen procedures.
Ability to relate well to all age groups. Organized and task oriented.
Exhibit the ability to place the needs of the Campers and the Camp above their own.
Team player that interacts positively with vendors, staff, volunteers, and Campers.
Able to complete the physical demands of the job.
Develop an order list for Camp Manager approval.
Assist Camp Manager in the purchasing of food. Coordinate special dietary needs with the Camp Nurse and Camp Manager.
Receiving and organizing inventory.
Always keep the kitchen and dining hall in a clean and sanitary state.
Prepare and present food Assure the quality of food purchased and served.
Ordering, receiving and organization of inventory. Dish sterilization program.
Plan menus and utilize leftovers.
Report any kitchen equipment damage to the Camp Manager. Supervise and assist in deep cleaning of kitchen and dining hall on a regular basis.
Attend and participate in pre-Camp meetings and pre-Camp preparation work. Train and supervise volunteers and staff assigned to assist you.
Consistently enforce Camp rules.
Meet with other administrative staff as necessary. Rotate camp responsibilities with other Program Specialists and interns under the direction of the Camp Manager and Program Manager.
These responsibilities include meal supervision, twilight activities, campfires, closing ceremonies and special events. Assumes all other duties and assignments deemed appropriate by the Camp Manager.
The physical ability to use a mop, broom, and other cleaning tools. Stamina to stand and work 4-6 hours straight. Physical strength to lift buckets of water, chemicals, and inventory. Ability to visually assess the cleanliness of the grounds and buildings
Stipend: $2640/month + Meals & Housing
