Legal Intern

The Legal internship is intended to be educational and will provide valuable experience and skills to anyone seeking a role as in-house counsel, particularly in the real estate industry.  The In-House Legal Intern will have an opportunity to apply, in a professional setting, skills she or he may have acquired in law school.  The Legal Intern will directly assist the Legal department with a wide range of projects.

 

Internship Learning Objectives/Task Goals

  • Researching laws and regulations applicable to AMH’s business, including matters relating to real estate licensing compliance, HOA management, landlord/tenant relationships, and privacy and data security
  • Assisting with administrative matters within the Legal Department, including tracking litigations and real estate transactions, and reviewing and organizing legal documents
  • Reviewing, summarizing, and assisting with a variety of commercial contracts
  • Attending and making records of department meetings
  • Providing broad-based legal support to counsel, paralegals, and other members of AMH’s Legal Department

 

Minimum Education/Skills/Experience/Credentials

  • Must have completed a minimum of 1 year of an accredited Juris Doctor program
  • The Intern will be required to sign and adhere to the terms and conditions of AMH’s Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
  • The Intern will be required to complete Compliance/Privacy training
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude; dependable, require minimal supervision.
  • Good interpersonal relations with proven communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite, including MS Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • 3.0 GPA or greater preferred
  • Writing sample and law school transcript

 

This is a paid internship, however AMH does not provide housing, relocation, or transportation assistance.

Availability to commit to 40 hours per week from June 8th to August 15th, Summer of 2026.

Compensation

The anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $25.00 hourly. Actual starting base pay within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, education, training, skills, and relevant experience.
