Operations Grants Intern
Overview
The Operations, Grants & Finance Intern will serve as a trusted right-hand to leadership, operating similarly to a junior Chief of Staff while also supporting grant management and basic finance functions. This is a high-impact, fast-paced role that provides direct exposure to nonprofit leadership, strategy, operations, and philanthropy.
The intern will help keep the organization running smoothly by supporting grants compliance, financial organization, and internal operations—allowing senior leadership to focus on mission growth and long-term impact.
Responsibilities
Grants & Compliance
Track active grants, deliverables, reporting deadlines, budgets, and outcomes
Assist with grant reports, renewals, and future proposals
Maintain a centralized grants calendar and tracking dashboard
Finance & Budget Support
Assist with basic bookkeeping and financial recordkeeping
Support expense tracking, budget monitoring, and monthly reconciliations
Assist with simple QuickBooks or bookkeeper-related tasks
Flag budget variances and prepare basic financial summaries
Executive & Chief of Staff Support
Support the Executive Director with scheduling, priorities, and follow-ups
Prepare meeting agendas, take notes, and track action items
Organize documents and support internal communications
Serve as a liaison between leadership, volunteers, and external partners
Operations & Strategy
Support program coordination and vendor or partner relationships
Conduct research on funding opportunities, policy updates, or healthcare access issues
Help build internal systems, dashboards, SOPs, or workflow tools (e.g., Notion, Airtable)
Additional Support
Assist with event planning, donor stewardship, or advocacy efforts as needed
Support communications or social media projects when necessary
Take on ad hoc projects that advance the Foundation’s mission
Ideal Candidate
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
Interested in nonprofit management, finance, grants, public policy, or social impact
Strong communication and organizational skills
Comfortable handling confidential information
Experience with spreadsheets or financial tools is a plus
