About the Position:
The Grant Specialist will coordinate the City’s grant funding efforts by researching and securing external funding opportunities that align with organizational priorities. The role prepares competitive grant applications, proposals, and budgets; ensures ongoing compliance with grant requirements; provides administrative and technical support for grant programs, particularly the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program; and supports the development and management of grant-funded projects.

What You'll Do:
•    Develop and compose grant proposals to obtain available government and private funding from various programs and projects on behalf of City departments.
•    Maintain tracking of grant status for auditing and budgeting purposes; maintain information for statistical reports and assist with grant reconciliations.
•    Provide administrative and technical support for the City’s grant programs.
•    Review grant expenditures for compliance with applicable regulations.
•    Collect data for the review and preparation of reimbursement requests to grant funding agencies; monitor the progress of projects and identify extension needs; communicate extension requests and other information to granting agencies.

What We're Looking For:
•    Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in grant writing and grant administration, preferably in a governmental environment.
•    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration or a related field.
•    Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.

Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

About the Team

The City of Grand Junction Finance Department includes the operations of Finance Administration, Budget, Accounting, Financial Reporting, Grants Administration, Tax Administration, and Municipal Court. The Finance Department provides a wide range of services that help ensure City resources are managed with integrity and accountability in alignment with the City’s strategic plan.
