Primary Duty
The Field Director is a key leader in Surus Enterprise Battle Program. The Battle Program gives distinct Operating Units the ability to mobilize an engaged citizenry within their area of responsibility through a regular series of community organizing activities. Field Directors support multiple Operating Units within a specified territory.
The Field Director’s primary duty is directing “Issue-based Calls-to-Action” and “Outcome-Oriented Days-of-Action” for all Operating Units within the assigned region, ensuring execution aligns with the mission to connect volunteers with a targeted group of neighbors in meaningful, civic oriented activities that foster community involvement and voter participation.
Core Responsibilities
- Identify salient issues of local concern through review of agendas, news, and community input to drive Calls-to-Action.
- Coordinate with Surus Communications and Marketing teams to produce issue-based materials (infographics, white papers, talking points).
- Plan, train, and direct volunteers in participation during Days-of-Action and ensure activities align with Surus objectives.
- Ensure all volunteers are trained in using the appropriate communication materials and digital tools for tracking engagement.
- Collaborate closely with the Events Manager to synchronize scheduling, messaging, and volunteer mobilization.
- Track participation metrics, maintain records of volunteer performance, and report regularly to the Membership Community Manager.
Skills and Abilities
- 3+ years of experience in field organizing, operations management, or campaign logistics.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate large groups of volunteers.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for community and media interaction.
- Ability to analyze local trends and develop actionable responses.
- Proficiency with basic digital communication and tracking platforms.
- Willingness to travel across Operating Units for on-site coordination and training.
