Paid National Park Service Internship - Environmental Education

 

This position supports public education, engagement, and enjoyment of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, a National Park Service site in metro Atlanta. 

The position promotes understanding and enjoyment of park resources through environmental education and public recreation and interpretation activities. Duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:

  • Develop environmental and historical education/interpretive programs under the direction of park staff.
  • Support and lead various education programs during the spring/fall school year and summer camps.
  • Coordinate with YMCA partners to facilitate summer camp programming and park representation.
  • Participate in creating and leading programs and special events for the community at large.
  • Participate on park social media and web team to develop content and target outreach.
  • Special projects in alignment with intern interests, skills, and park needs.

This individual placement is meant to facilitate professional development and promotes exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals. This could include gaining experience in different conservation fields and shadowing different work groups. As a result of this experience, the member will gain additional program facilitation skills, knowledge of environmental education/interpretation best practices, professional development training, public speaking skills, and an opportunity to connect Atlanta's youth to a National Park.
