KUT/KUTX Intern
Interested in audio journalism? Are you passionate about digital storytelling? Want to hone your visual reporting skills working alongside an award-winning team of professionals?
KUT offers interns significant professional experience in audio, digital and visual storytelling in a supportive environment provided by our award-winning journalists. Internships are available in five areas: Texas Standard, KUT Local News, Photo/Video Journalism, KUTX Music, and Audio Production.
Our interns work closely with producers, reporters, engineers, and digital team members to put together all aspects of our coverage. Interns write for the radio and online, research and schedule interviews, and use professional equipment to take photos or record and edit audio or video. Interns also attend news and music planning meetings, pitch stories, and work on special projects as assigned. Most successful internships result in several online bylines and other clips. We also offer workshops throughout the internship on career-building skills.
Internships are open to current college students, recent college graduates, and those in the early stages of their journalism careers. If you're not sure if you're eligible, go ahead and apply.
Interns are paid $15 per hour. Fall and spring internships are 15 hours per week while summer internships are 30 hours per week. Internships last 10 weeks in the summer and 12 weeks in the spring and fall.
