Mentorship Intern

Student Teaching Internship — Brain Enrichment Initiative (BEI)

Location: Northeast Ohio (Hybrid: Local school sites & remote planning)
Term: Winter–Spring 2026 Semester (February-May)
Hours: 5–10 hours per week
Compensation: $15 to $20 an hour

About BEI

The Brain Enrichment Initiative (BEI) is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to empowering young learners through innovative, hands-on enrichment programs that promote critical thinking, creativity, and real-world problem-solving. BEI partners with local schools and community organizations to provide supplemental programming that helps students develop social, emotional, and cognitive skills beyond the traditional classroom.

Position Overview

BEI is seeking Student Teaching Interns for the Winter–Spring 2026 term. This position offers aspiring educators the opportunity to gain real-world classroom experience while working directly with BEI facilitators to design and deliver engaging enrichment lessons to K–8 students. Interns will assist with lesson planning, classroom instruction, and program coordination.

Responsibilities

Assist BEI instructors in implementing classroom lessons and activities

Lead small-group learning sessions under supervision

Support classroom management and student engagement

Collaborate on curriculum development and enrichment materials

Help coordinate program logistics (attendance, materials prep, evaluations)

Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for improving student experiences

Serve as a positive role model and advocate for youth learning and development

Qualifications

Current college student pursuing a degree in Education, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field

Passion for working with children and fostering a positive learning environment

Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Reliable transportation to local school sites (if participating in-person)

Prior experience working with children or in classroom settings preferred but not required

Develop lesson planning and classroom management skills

Strengthen communication and leadership abilities

Build a professional portfolio demonstrating applied educational experience
