Job Description
Bricks 4 Kidz offers after-school programs and/or clubs at local schools. We are looking for outgoing, personable and reliable instructors for our STEM-based enrichment programs in Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Pinecrest and South Miami.
We are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, patient and caring individuals who are flexible, responsible, and can work equally well with both adults and children
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety and security of children enrolled;
- Lead a group of 10 - 15 students in the classroom setting and using classroom management skills to represent and teach the curriculum provided by the organization
- Follow designated schedule and curriculum.
- Ability to adapt curriculum, hardware, or classroom set up to support any technical or social demands that may arise during program
- Effectively attract and retain students through enthusiasm, teaching skill and patience;
- Ability to command respect and cooperation of an elementary classroom
- Confidence to run a classroom alone
- A team player who can collaborate with peers
- Ability to create and maintain a fun, caring, and responsive educational environment
- Training is provided following structured curriculum. All projects are hands-on exercises with open-ended challenge. All exercises aim to stimulate students’ analytical thinking and trouble shooting skills.
Schedule:
- Must be available to work in-person between the hours of 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM weekdays.
- Must be available to work at least 3 - 5 days a week, including weekends as necessary. Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week.
- Must have own reliable transportation or able to commute to different sites, including Coral Gables Studio location.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year working with school-age youth, ages 4-10 in a school / after-school setting
- Ability to work independently in a classroom setting to confidently manage a group of children
- Dependable, punctual and responsible individual with high energy and a child-friendly personality
- Travel to location of workshops. Clean driving record and a car is a must
- Documentation of legal U.S. residency
- Ideal candidates are teachers, former teachers, teacher’s aides and education majors. Current college students are welcome to apply as this position is an excellent way to gain field/teaching experience while building your resume!
- Able to lift/carry a trunk weights ~20 - 30 lbs
