Environmental Markets - Summer Research Analyst

Environmental Markets – Summer Research Analyst
Summer 2026 (Full-Time Internship)

Company Overview
Molecule Ventures is an investment management firm trading and investing in environmental commodity markets. Our funds invest across government-mandated carbon markets (known as “cap-and-trade”), which put a price on CO2e emissions, internalizing the cost of pollution, and driving investment into low-carbon technologies. The firm was founded in 2020 by a New York-based team and currently manages ~$425M.

The team is comprised of professionals with extensive backgrounds in climate, energy, and finance. Our mission is to attract more private capital towards low-carbon solutions by generating above market returns for our investors. The firm is a proud supporter of 1% For the Planet and numerous climate and environmental justice organizations.

Job Description
We are seeking someone with a demonstrated commitment to sustainability and the clean energy transition who is eager to focus on environmental markets. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background and feel comfortable evaluating policy, manipulating data, and distilling complex topics into a digestible format. Some familiarity with environmental markets is preferred.

The analyst will work alongside senior members of the team providing research and market coverage for non-US environmental markets. The responsibilities include:

  • Fundamental Research. Researching the supply and demand fundamentals of specific compliance carbon markets or alternative environmental markets to guide the firm’s investment decisions and supplement marketing materials for current and prospective investors.
  • Policy and Regulatory Analysis. Evaluating market regulations, environmental legislation, and political and policy trends to identify potential market catalysts.
  • Market News Coverage. Monitor market developments and incorporate findings into investment analysis and weekly research meetings. Track market-specific news stories, regulatory processes, and political developments to evaluate risks and identify price catalysts.
  • Data Analysis. Conduct quantitative analysis of key market indicators to help understand short-term price drivers.

Work Expectations and Result
Senior members of the Molecule team will guide the analyst throughout the summer, iterating on the analyst’s research and analysis on a weekly basis. The analyst will be expected to share their work with team members throughout the summer. The goal is to help the firm build conviction within the firm’s investment universe.

In addition, we will encourage the analyst to learn about other parts of the business, such as marketing and investor relations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A firm understanding of energy systems and the energy transition.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint).
