Programs Manager

Position Summary

The Programs Manager collaborates closely with the Executive Director, Uganda, providing leadership support, technical guidance, and program coordination across key functional areas of the organization. This role serves as the governance bridge between U.S. leadership and Uganda operation teams by creating clarity, driving accountability, and ensuring that impact data and financial reports are reliable, timely, and actionable.

In addition to traditional program leadership, this role functions in a portfolio-management capacity—providing structured oversight, governance, and performance management for AsOne’s Uganda operation, goals and objectives. This role ensures that Uganda programs operate with the financial discipline, operational rigor, and strategic clarity expected of a healthy, mission-driven enterprise. This includes ongoing assessment of organizational health, leadership capacity, risks, and opportunities to strengthen long-term value creation and impact.

The ideal candidate is a systems builder, great with project management skills, and a galvanizing leader who thrives on turning vision into execution. They possess strong financial and technical skills, are proficient in Airtable and Google Suite, and leverage AI tools to streamline workflows, strengthen team collaboration, and enhance organizational efficiency.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Leadership & Coordination

  • Provide U.S.-based oversight of all Uganda program areas, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and goals.
  • Partner with the Executive Director, Uganda, to support program planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate coordination across Operations, HR, Finance, Expansion & Construction, and M&E teams to ensure unified communication and accountability.
  • Monitor organizational and program performance, identifying risks, opportunities, and recommendations for strengthening enterprise health.

 

 

2. Program Systems, Processes, and Data Management

  • Build, maintain, improve program management systems using Airtable, Google Suite, and AI-enabled workflow tools.
  • Develop reporting frameworks, dashboards, and standardized processes that strengthen clarity and consistency.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and actionable program and operational data for leadership and donor reporting.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across departments.

 

 

3. Program Financial Oversight and Reporting

  • Partner with Uganda and U.S. Finance teams to manage program budgets, monitor spending, and ensure accurate monthly reporting.
  • Support budget design, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial decision-making.
  • Uphold financial stewardship and value protection across all Uganda operations.

 

 

4. Learning, Monitoring, and Evaluation

  • Oversee M&E systems to ensure data integrity and effective measurement of impact.
  • Translate data into insights and reports for internal use and donor communication.
  • Work with M&E to strengthen metrics, tools, and learning processes that inform program improvement.

 

 

5. Leadership and Team Development

  • Support the Executive Director, Uganda, in strengthening leadership capacity across teams through coaching and development planning.
  • Help coordinate AsOne’s leadership development initiatives for staff, emerging leaders, and alumni.
  • Partner with Uganda HR to integrate leadership development and organizational culture practices into team rhythms.
  • Build a culture of unity, excellence, and spiritual maturity rooted in AsOne’s values.

 

 

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with U.S. and Uganda leadership—including Finance, HR, Operations, Construction, and M&E—to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Partner with the Development team to provide program data, impact reports, and stories for donor engagement.
  • Participate in strategic planning and organization-wide learning, culture, and leadership meetings.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 5–7 years of program or operations management experience (international development or NGO preferred).
  • Strong financial literacy and experience managing complex budgets.
  • Proficiency in Airtable, Google Workspace, LookerStudio, and data systems; familiarity with AI tools preferred.
  • Project management skills; able to manage high workload and follow-through.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build systems, lead through influence, and support high-performing teams.
  • Comfortable with regular travel to Uganda and cross-time-zone work.
  • Self-driven, relational, and an ideal team player (humble, hungry, smart).

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $75,000–$100,000; based on experience and location.
  • Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA): Employer-funded reimbursement plan to offset medical expenses.
  • Retirement: 8% employer contribution, no match required.
  • Travel: All required travel covered by AsOne.
