Staff Accountant

Position Summary

GCDL, a longstanding and reputable dental laboratory headquartered in Prospect Heights, Illinois, with over twenty years of continuous service to dental professionals nationwide, is seeking to appoint a Staff Accountant. The individual selected for this role will assume primary responsibility for the month-end financial close and will provide comprehensive support across core accounting and financial management functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and execute all month-end and year-end closing activities in accordance with established timelines
  • Prepare, analyze, and record journal entries, ensuring complete and accurate supporting documentation
  • Perform bank account reconciliations
  • Maintain and reconcile all balance sheet accounts
  • Conduct detailed financial analyses and identify variances and corrective actions
  • Ensure full compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Oversee the monthly reconciliation and closing of subsidiary systems and administer the timely issuance of customer billing statements
  • Provide comprehensive support in connection with external audits
  • Support of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and long-range financial planning initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal departments to address and resolve operational and financial matters
  • Perform additional responsibilities, special assignments, and ad hoc analyses as required by management

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with accounting and payroll software applications (e.g. QuickBooks, Paylocity, Bill).
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel coupled with strong quantitative and analytical abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and formal financial reporting standards.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking capabilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities on-site, Monday through Friday, without exception.
