RESPONSIBLE TO
Director of Missouri Slope at Home
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION
The primary purpose of this position is to interview, hire, and train home care attendants to provide individual services for clients in their homes. This includes onsite, classroom, or online training and continuous mentoring of employees. The position will assist the Director and Service Manager with employee evaluation and participate in the program's outreach activities meal deliveries. Additionally, the position will consist of up to 10 hours direct client care per week, participate in the on-call rotation and learn the roles of essential positions to serve as a backup.

- Effectively work and communicate with various individuals from all socio-economic groups, including geriatric persons, people with special needs, and those needing memory care support.
- Read, write, verbalize, understand, and apply written instructions in English.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to independently make ethical and professional decisions.
- Work with minimal supervision and effectively manage workflow
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills; ability to speak in front of groups & facilitate discussion
- Communicate through the use of technology. Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and electronic records.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Employee hiring
Assists in determining staffing needs, communicates job needs to the Director and HR department. Submit job postings and screen and interview potential applicants. Collaborate with HR in the hiring of new At Home employees.
- Employee training
Train and maintain records for all Missouri Slope At-Home employees, and coordinate trainings with other Missouri Slope Personnel as relevant or deemed necessary by the program director. Demonstrates support of and compliance with client rights, including confidentiality of client information.
- Outreach
Represent Missouri Slope at Home in the community. Assist in setting up senior vendor fairs and health fairs. Plan and implement annual Rural Aging Action Network (RAAN) Meetings as needed.
- Personal Care Attendant (PCA) / Quality Service Provider (QSP)
Knowledge and ability to perform all Homecare attendant duties and responsibilities, to properly train, mentor, monitor, and evaluate employee performance.
- On call
Take calls to address staffing needs after regular business hours, on weekends, and holidays per the on-call rotation schedule.
- Meals
The Staff Development Specialist will arrange for or provide for clients who elect in-home meal preparation or coordinate delivery of prepared meals from Missouri Slope.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Scheduling
Learn the Smartcare scheduling system to complete data entry on all new employees. Be able to enter new clients and schedule all clients in their homes based on client contracted shifts
- Account management backup
Learn and assist with generating weekly and monthly invoices and distributes to clients, posts payments to invoices as needed
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Staff Development Specialist will frequently be required to sit at a computer, stand, and use all motor functions to meet client needs. This includes reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, squatting, crouching, or crawling. The Staff Development Specialist will be required to perform physical work, including lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, standing for periods, climbing a ladder, being comfortable with short heights, pushing, pulling, lifting, walking, and bending.
WORK CONDITIONS
The Staff Development Specialist will execute duties in both home settings (of contracted client) and office setting at Missouri Slope and Missouri Slope at Home. Works indoors, but on occasion works outdoors. Able to travel to clients’ homes and drive agency vehicle. May work near clients, often hands-on or within inches of them, and frequently wear protective or safety attire, such as gloves and a mask. There will be some exposure to hazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens or household chemicals, requiring basic chemical safety/infection prevention knowledge. Work could involve exposure to animals, dust, and other environmental allergens.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 18 years of age or older
- High School diploma or GED
- Associate’s Degree in a Health-related field, Health Information Management, Human Services, or other related field OR 3 years’ equivalent experience working in the health industry as a coordinator, scheduler, administrative assistant, or equivalent position
- Active, valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and the ability to use personal vehicle for travel based on operational and customer needs.
- Successfully pass a criminal background check, including motor vehicle record (MVR), drug screening, and reference check
- Successfully complete required training within the specified time frame; time requirements will vary based on assigned training. Incumbents of this position may be eligible voluntarily (not a requirement of the position) to participate in a CNA class to become certified
