Puzzle Maker
Artifact Puzzles is an artisanal micro-manufacturer of laser-cut wooden jigsaw puzzles, and we are hiring puzzle makers to laser-cut and quality-control our jigsaw puzzles.
This job requires a mix of hands-on arts-and-crafts maker skills, excellent visual attention to detail, good judgement, and problem-solving.
This is an on-site job in the outdoors-y seaport of Port Townsend (2 hours from Seattle), famed for its hiking, wood-working, and arts communities.
The key activities include adhering prints to wood, running and optimizing industrial laser-cutters, quality control while separating pieces, judgement in handling quality problems as well as handling complex customer problems.
Puzzle-makers need to be able to work independently, and self-manage once trained.
Additional Responsibilities: This is mostly a manufacturing job, but depending on the candidate's skills and interests, this job may include additional responsibilities including: jigsaw puzzle design, jigsaw puzzle image creation, product photography, blog writing, managing advertising, customer service, social media, and sales.
Physicality requirements: candidates must be able to work on their feet all day, and be able to carry a 40 pound box upstairs once a day.
