Program Details:
This internship program is designed to be mutually beneficial to both the intern and the company. Upon successful completion of this program the intern will have managed projects that target ways the company can improve. The intern will also have gained valuable industry experience and built relationships within the industry including company management and the executive team. The intern also will be able to evaluate whether they have interest in pursuing this career path, and the company will also consider the candidate for full-time employment after successful completion of their degree.
Essential Internship Duties:
-Manage a Major Project with defined goals and outcomes, with the guidance of their program mentor. The project will focus on the food safety and quality improvement within our facility. As a major exporter in the meat industry, the quality focus at FBC is critical to our core business, and the intern will be able to learn this as well as provide opportunities to improve.
-Perform experiments or tests as needed with guidance of program mentor.
-Ability to provide reports and summaries of findings and progress that is made.
-Engage in projects and issues as they come up throughout the plant, provide a new perspective.
-Engage in professional development throughout the course of the program.
-Develop ideas and/or innovations for new projects or future improvements.
-Actively participate in a mentorship program with their program mentor to guide and assist in things that may be a new experience. May also work with top company executives and begin building relationships through discussions and working together.
Qualifications and Requirements:
-Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in an applicable field with at least 1 semester remaining
-Willing and able to follow all plant policies regarding safety, food safety, hygiene and work environment
-Prior industry experience is not required for this position, only a strong interest to work in the food industry
-Willingness to learn new things and be flexible to change
-Basic computer skills, willingness to learn more as needed
-Good communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines
-Needs to be able to locate or commute to Fremont, NE
-Hours will be day shift only. Exact schedule can be flexible within reason depending on the candidate’s personal preference.
-Candidate should expect to work 40 hours per week.
-Time away from work for a personal need can be flexible and should be discussed with the program mentor.
-Start and end date is also flexible depending on the intern’s schedule.
-Compensation for this internship is $22 per hour.
