Junior Associate - Multifamily Investment Sales

Location: San Francisco Bay Area (Offices in Burlingame, CA and Los Altos, CA)

Division: Compass Commercial | Compass

About the Role:

The Junior Associate position on the Multifamily Investment Sales & Advisory Group at Compass Commercial is designed for recent college graduates or early-career professionals seeking to build a career in multifamily brokerage and investment sales. You will play a pivotal role supporting the sale and advisory of apartment properties across the Bay Area on behalf of private clients. Working closely with two Senior Vice Presidents, you’ll receive hands-on training across all aspects of the investment sales process—from research and financial analysis to client interaction and deal execution.

This is a unique opportunity to learn directly from a leading multifamily investment team with 40+ years of collective experience — over $1 billion in sales volume and 600+ transactions — and to grow within a top-tier brokerage platform backed by Compass, the nation’s largest real estate network.

Winning outcomes in this role include developing strong analytical and client relationship skills, contributing meaningfully to active transactions, and ultimately progressing toward independently sourcing and executing new business while helping drive the team’s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct market, property, and company research to support active listings and new business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain internal prospect tracking databases to manage client and investor relationships.
  • Assist in preparing marketing materials, offering memorandums, and client presentations.
  • Analyze local and regional market activity, including economic, employment, and demographic trends that impact multifamily investments.
  • Support deal execution through market surveys, proposal reviews, financial modeling, due diligence coordination, and transaction documentation.
  • Perform data management and administrative tasks to bring listings to market and ensure smooth deal flow.
  • Conduct business development outreach to potential clients under the guidance of senior team members, contributing to pipeline growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience in commercial real estate, investments, or finance preferred (1–3 years or relevant internship experience).
  • California Real Estate License or willingness to obtain one (strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency in Excel-based financial modeling, data analysis, and research tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft professional presentations and client materials.
  • Self-starter with a motivated, analytical, and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • High attention to detail, professionalism, and accountability for quality and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with Bay Area multifamily markets and local housing dynamics is a plus.

Compensation

  • Base Pay: $2,000 per month, plus the opportunity to earn additional income through commissions and independent business sourcing.
  • Hours: 25 hours per week (dedicated to team projects)
  • Additional Time: Flexible hours for developing your own business pipeline

In addition to the base compensation, the Junior Associate will be eligible for deal-based commission on transactions they independently source and close. Commission structure will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and credentials in coordination with the Senior Vice Presidents.

Benefits & Perks

  • Senior Agents focused on mentoring your professional development and long-term success, offering a pathway to becoming a top-performing Investment Sales Broker.
  • Direct mentorship and one-on-one training with senior brokers and industry leaders.
  • Exposure to high-value multifamily transactions and active deal experience.
  • Collaborative and growth-oriented team culture invested in your professional development.
  • Opportunities to network with private investors, developers, and family offices across the Bay Area.
  • Access to Compass’s robust marketing, data, and technology platforms.
