Legislative Director

Legislative Director,  Located in Nassau Co. Long Island, Full-Time, Annual Salary:$80K

The role will require the ability to manage competing priorities and timelines, solve problems, and keep the Assembly Member and Chief of Staff updated on projects. Daily work and responsibilities will vary, but the primary responsibilities include:
Work with the Assembly Member and Chief of Staff to develop and implement strategies to advance legislative, policy, and community priorities. Drive a legislative agenda, develop advocacy strategies, and build and manage coalitions. Research legislative, budgetary, and policy issues. Draft and advance bills through the legislative process. Interacting with government agencies, organizations, members of the community, and other elected officials’ offices.  Help prepare the member for floor debate, prepare talking points, memorandum, and other written documents, track the Member’s legislation, and work closely with advocates and other elected officials. Draft correspondence, briefings, talking points, presentations, and other materials as needed. Regular travel to Albany during session and to other conferences as needed.
