Position Description:

 

One (1) Permanent-Exempt, full-time (40 hours/week, full year (260 days/year) position. Exempt employees are considered "at will" and serve at the discretion of the appointing officer.

 

This position is excluded by the Charter from the competitive Civil Service examination process and shall serve at the discretion of the Appointing Officer.

 

Under direction of the Athletic Director or Head Coach, maintains and is responsible for tracking and repairing all athletic equipment for the College's Athletics and Physical Education Department. Instructs students in proper use and care of equipment; and assist visiting teams with facilities and necessary supplies.

 

NOTE: This position may require working Saturday hours.

 

Job Duties:

 

1. Assists Athletic Director/s, coaching staff, and Department Administration in ordering equipment and supplies needed for department (e.g. soap, gloves, misc. supplies, equipment, etc.) for the purpose of establishing and maintaining supply and equipment inventory and related records.2. Attends meetings and in-service presentations (e.g. workshops, monthly Risk Management/Safety meetings, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and conveying information relative to department, faculty and staff.3. Manage the issuance of athletic equipment (e.g. lockers, locks, combinations, reissuing lost locks, etc.) for the purpose of preventing damage and to lockers and other physical education property in the room.4. Inspects equipment (e.g. game day equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring satisfactory of sports and game day equipment.5. Supports individual and groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment when needed.6. Operates and maintains small laundry for the purpose of maintaining clothes used in the physical education and organized athletic programs.7. Receives visiting teams (e.g. towels, and necessary supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing for their needs.8. Responds to inquiries from a variety of individuals (e.g. students, instructors, staff, administrators, community groups, etc.) for the purpose of providing necessary information for referral and solving problems.9. Travels with teams on out-of-town trips and is responsible for the equipment of the teams for the purpose of driving teams to and from the games and ensuring the equipment is.

10. Required to operate District motorized equipment carts (e.g., gators/golf carts) in a safe manner within Ocean Campus.11. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

1. Completion of high school supplemented by at least one year of experience in record keeping and/or related clerical activities or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

2. Possession of a valid California drivers license.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

 

Experience working with students in higher education

Experience working in collegiate athletic environment

Bachelors degree in Physical Education or relevant field

 

Benefits:

 

1. Additional Days Off with Pay. As stipulated in the appropriate bargaining agreements and board resolutions, Classified employees working full year (260 days/year) work schedules are granted, as paid days off, the days between Christmas and New Year’s Day, as well as an additional five (5) paid days off during spring break. Eligible school- term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the designated days between Christmas and New Year’s Day shall be granted three (3) paid days off to be scheduled by mutual agreements between the employee and supervisor. Eligible school- term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the days designated as Spring Break will not be paid for these days off.2. New employees hired on or after October 1, 2013, will contribute 2% of salary to the San Francisco Retiree Health Care Trust Fund (RHCTF).
