Job Summary

 

The Assistant Director of Donor Relations plays a key role in strengthening donor engagement and advancing Colorado College's donor relations program and fundraising efforts. This role is responsible for coordinating impact reporting and student scholarship stewardship efforts, ensuring that donors receive timely, personalized, and meaningful updates about the use and impact of their gifts. Manages the collection and delivery of donor communications across campus units, supports student acknowledgment efforts, and maintains accurate records of stewardship activities. Contributes to the cultivation and retention of donor relationships by supporting strategic stewardship initiatives, maintaining tracking systems, and assisting in the development of new approaches to increase donor engagement and recognition.

 

Responsibilities

 

Impact Reporting:

 

• Manage and execute a comprehensive impact reporting process to ensure donors receive timely and meaningful updates on the use and impact of their gifts.

• Serve as the primary liaison to academic departments and administrative units to collect written and multimedia updates for donor reports.

• Track and monitor reporting schedules for endowed and current-use funds, ensuring consistent follow-up and compliance with stewardship expectations.

• Work with Advancement Communications to deliver polished and compelling donor materials aligned with institutional messaging and branding.

 

Student Scholarship Stewardship:

 

• Coordinate the collection and distribution of student scholarship acknowledgments and related stewardship communications.

• Develop strategies and outreach efforts to increase student participation in stewardship activities, including thank-you letters, testimonials, and video content.

• Collaborate with Financial Aid and academic departments to assist in matching students with appropriate donor funds.

• Maintain guidelines and templates to support student contributors and ensure high-quality, donor-centric communications.

 

Project Management and Process Development:

 

• Serve as the project manager for key donor relations initiatives, including tracking overall progress toward annual stewardship goals.

• Maintain systems and databases for monitoring donor touchpoints, student acknowledgments, and impact report completion.

• Document internal workflows, recommend process improvements, and ensure alignment with broader donor relations strategies.

• Collaborate with colleagues across Advancement to ensure accurate reporting, data integrity, and coordinated donor engagement efforts.

 

Special Stewardship Initiatives:


 

• Support strategic stewardship initiatives from conceptualization through evaluation, contributing to the development and enhancement of donor engagement approaches.

• Collaborate with the Director of Donor Relations and Director of Advancement Communications to create and coordinate recognition and cultivation materials in both print and digital formats.

• Provide staffing support for donor and advancement events, serving as a representative of the Donor Relations & Gifts team to strengthen relationships with donors, institutional partners, and key stakeholders across the university community

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

• Bachelor's degree in a related field

• 3 years of experience in a related field with at least 1 of supervisory or lead experience

 

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

 

• $24.89 to $29.87 per hour
