Governmental Affairs Intern
A Governmental Affairs Intern will assist the SEC's Director of Governmental Affairs in various activities related to government relations, public policy, and advocacy.
Responsibilities:
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research on legislative issues, policies, and regulations relevant to the organization’s interests. Analyze the potential impact of proposed legislation.
- Communication Support: Assist in drafting correspondence, reports, and briefing materials. Assist in managing phone communications for the division head by taking and relaying messages.
- Monitoring Legislation: Track and summarize relevant legislative activities and regulatory developments at local, state, and federal levels. Ensure local legislator contact information is updated.
- Database Management: Maintain and update contact databases of key government officials, stakeholders, and organizations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently enrolled in a degree program in political science, public policy, international relations, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong research, writing, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. The ability to work in a team setting and collaborate with others.
- Knowledge: Understanding of the legislative process and current political issues is preferred.
