Job Title:        Summer Recreation Intern

Location:        Munster Town Hall, Parks and Recreation Office, 1005 Ridge Road, Munster, IN 46321

Terms:            40 hours/week from May 18-July 31

Pay:                $600/week Stipend ($15/hour) 

 

Responsibilities and Duties

This is an all-encompassing Recreation Internship. The candidate will have their hands in different aspects, however main focus will be Summer Camp, Munster Pool, Sport Classes, Special Events and Concerts. In addition, there will also be a focus on general administrative tasks, budgeting, marketing and helping anywhere else needed.

 

  • Work 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday. Ability to flex and work evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to organize, plan, communicate and execute 2 special events from start to finish.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with the Superintendent to run Kid’s Fest.
  • Organize, plan, interview, hire and supervise afternoon sport programs.
  • Work July 3rd Festivities at Centennial Park with Superintendent.
  • Create and present Intern PowerPoint Presentation to Park Board encompassing your experience.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

  • Be working towards a degree in Recreation, Sport Management, Sports Marketing, Communications or an equivalent. 
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, think on your feet and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to work well with others, multi-task and communicate well.
  • Have excellent time-management skills and is self-motivated.
  • Have initiative and willingness to pull your weight on our team.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Have strong work ethic and be a quick learner.
  • Willingness to public speak during events to crowds from 50-1,000.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
