Contract Prototype Planner

Isuzu Technical Center of America is looking for a Contract Prototype Planner to join their operations in Plymouth, MI. The selected candidate will be placed with a preferred agency for employment.

JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinates sourcing of parts to be used in pre-production vehicle builds. Processes order documentation and maintains inventory control system of early build parts.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Prototype Part Procurement (50%)

Selects supplier for proto parts to meet prototype vehicle build timing. Meets and gathers information from various suppliers and Isuzu personnel (Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Purchasing, etc.) Creates Request for Quotation and Prototype Orders utilizing Concur system. Tracks part delivery per project schedule, shares delivery information with various Isuzu groups and business partners as necessary. Maintains inventory of incoming parts until use by build team. Coordinates part shipment as needed to proto build sites.

2) Accounting and Invoicing (30%)

Procures invoice from forwarder, packing company, etc. and processes paperwork in system in order for remittance to occur. Closes PO received, and remits to suppliers.

3) Departmental Procedure / Control (10%)

Creates monthly report summarizing the progress and issues for Proto department. Organizes the proto shop job records, and proposes procedure improvement as necessary

4) Quality and Process Control (10%)

Procures supplier’s process plan for prototype parts of designated projects as necessary. Procures necessary quality certificates from supplier to prove prototype parts meets Isuzu specification and drawing. Files such documents into database.

5) Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to: Sr. Manager, CV Product Planning and Vehicle Engineering

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience as automotive parts buyer preferred
  • Minimum one year experience

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing process and tooling of automotive parts a plus

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Good computer skills including ability to use Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Access; IBM Lotus Notes
  • Familiarity with SAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read engineering drawings preferred

PHYSICAL STANDARDS:

The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer. This is primarily a sedentary position in a controlled office environment which requires only occasional reaching, stooping, and lifting of office files, reports or records, typically weighing 5 lbs. or less.
