Food Safety Administrator

JOB SUMMARY

The role of the Food Safety and Crop Production Administrator is to participate on the crops team by taking the lead in ensuring food safety, organic certification and compliance and providing assistance with crops team management ensuring high quality crops are produced. Ensure daily communication of data and conditions to crops leadership. 

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES

Strategic and tactical work for which this position is accountable:

It is the responsibility of the Food Safety and Crop Production Administrator to use their skills and knowledge to:

  • Provide oversight for all food safety audits and inspections.
  • Develop, administer and ensure compliance with industry and government regulations, such as FSMA, GFSI, HACCP and PCQI.
  • Maintain and update food safety training, manuals, programs and policies. 
  • Conduct food safety training sessions.
  • Develop, prepare, and present compliance information to management team as necessary and/or requested.
  • Ability to communicate to large or small groups in English and Spanish to ensure the transfer of knowledge and compliance.
  • Ensure that accurate data is captured for traceability, internal record-keeping, and internal sharing purposes.
  • Provide support for Organic and Regenerative Certification and associated audits.
  • Create/maintain standard operating procedures for organic and regenerative vegetable crop production.
  • Maintain accurate documentation.
  • Run monthly food safety meetings with Crops management team.
  • Follow all prescribed regulatory procedures and maintain required records.
  • Partner with the crop management to implement company, community, and Kreher programs, as well as ensure incredible service standards are met.
  • Lead by example within the Kreher crops team. 
  • Maintain two-way communication with leaders and team members to share knowledge and ideas.
  • Act as a team player (support and encourage co-workers) and treat co-workers with respect.
  • Practice safety and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Capabilities and traits essential to perform satisfactorily

  • 3 or more years’ experience, or equivalent education, in the agricultural industry and/or food safety field and/or administering programs.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals throughout the organization.
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred. 
  • Must be hands-on (enjoys being out in the field where the crop is growing) and process oriented, always looking to improve processes.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of computer applications, such as Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, as well as auditing work, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Local travel required during the production season.
  • Must be well organized, a self-starter, with the ability to take initiative to solve issues as they arise and follow-through in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, and collaboration skills.
  • Must be familiar with troubleshooting problems and proposing solutions. 
  • Natural customer service orientation.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3 or more years’ experience, or equivalent education, in the agricultural industry and/or food safety field and/or administering programs.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires the ability to work both in an office environment and in agricultural operations environment. There is occasional exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, temperature changes, agricultural noise and hazards.

  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an industrial setting, with typical industrial noise levels.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time (up to ten hours).
  • Able to work long days (12+ hours) and long weeks as required by crop farming.
