About the Internship
The Aviation Parking team manages the commercial strategy, financial performance, customer experience, and operational coordination for on-airport parking products at JFK, LGA, and EWR. The program includes daily, economy, and employee parking, as well as digital customer engagement, demand forecasting, and revenue management initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support a range of analytical and operational projects related to parking strategy and performance, including:
- Assisting with improving the collection, organization, and overall scope of data maintained for parking permittees - including the larger market of unpermitted companies and help bring private operators into compliance. Including investigating and documenting non-permitted businesses that use our roadways and curbs and profit from our passengers.
- Assisting with optimizing the deliverables of multimillion dollar contracts with vendors that support our parking operations at Liberty Newark, Kennedy, Laguardia and Stewart Airports.
- Assisting with project planning and deployment of marketing campaigns, point of sale improvements using credit cards, EZ Pass and license plate recognition, data dashboarding & reporting of financials.
- Researching solutions and best practices used in commercial solar installations, electric vehicle recharging programs, vehicular and pedestrian behavioral data and parking guidance systems.
- Assisting the Senior Airport Parking Permit & Contract Coordinator with collection of Parking Permittee documentation & administration of applicable commercial permits, and initiatives to bring private companies into compliance with policy, enforcement coordinated with other government agencies.
- Performing varied assignments to further airport parking policy and initiatives, including research on best practices used in the management of off-airport parking providers at airports domestically and internationally, best practices and policy related to municipal curb management and allocation
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
- Major in business, transportation planning, aviation management or related discipline
Desired Qualifications
- Strong interest in airport commercial management, ground transportation and parking, and business process improvement
- Capable of managing projects efficiently, meeting deadlines, and reporting progress in a timely manner
- Excellent business writing and presentation skills
- Ability to build relationships with diverse sets of internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Port Authority staff and tenants)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with financial terminology and basic accounting principles
Internship Details
- The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026
- The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026
- This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
- In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
