Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:  

This position works collaboratively with the PD Waiver Program Manager to determine waiver program eligibility. Processes information obtained from various sources in accordance with standard procedures, rules and regulations.

Where applicable, the Waiver Program Specialist will process crisis-exception requests.

Process Upload Utility notices regarding, deaths, moves out of state and other removals from waiting list for PD waiver.

Process Waiting List offers for the PD waiver.

Process daily eligibility for the waivers.

Follow up with KDHE on financial eligibility inquiries which come to KDADS

Work with KDHE regarding WORK and STEPS transitions.

Works in collaboration with the KDADS ADRC Program Manager or appropriate assessing entities to assure all procedures are and reporting are adhered to.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

  • The Program Specialist serves as the main point of contact for program eligibility questions from assessing entities and MCOs, KDHE, and consumer and their families. In conjunction with the assigned Waiver Program Manager, the Specialist shall approve or deny waiver eligibility following the guidelines set out by the waivers. The Specialist will issue 3160s and 3161s as appropriate. 
  • Assist the Program Manager with processing PD  waitlist offers.
  • Follow up with KDHE on financial eligibility inquiries which come to KDADS
  • Work with KDHE regarding WORK and STEPS transitions.
  • Works in collaboration with the KDADS ADRC Program Manager and assessing entities to assure all procedures are followed.
  • Works in collaboration with the KDADS ADRC Program Manager or appropriate assessing entities to assure all procedures are and reporting are adhered to.
  • Processes Crisis and other Exception Requests as trained, and in collaboration with the Program Manager.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • One year of experience in professional administrative support work
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office 
  • High School diploma

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Knowledge of HCBS services system.
