Position Overview

The Oar House is seeking a dedicated and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team. This position is ideal for an advanced culinary student or recent graduate looking to expand their skills in a professional, fast-paced kitchen. You’ll work closely with our Executive Chef to support daily operations, oversee staff, and contribute to menu development.

Responsibilities

Support the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations

Supervise line cooks, prep cooks, and kitchen support staff

Assist with menu planning, seasonal specials, and recipe development

Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation

Oversee inventory, ordering, and cost control

Ensure kitchen cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health standards

Help train and mentor new team members

Qualifications

Current culinary student or recent culinary school graduate preferred

Prior kitchen experience (culinary program, restaurant, or internship)

Strong knife skills and understanding of fundamental cooking techniques

Ability to lead, multitask, and thrive in a busy environment

Strong communication skills and a positive, teamwork-focused attitude

Passion for food, creativity, and continued learning
