The Oxnard Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Oxnard) promotes Oxnard as a premier Southern California destination, highlighting the city’s vibrant coastal culture, diverse attractions and welcoming hospitality. Working alongside local tourism partners, hotels and community organizations, Visit Oxnard drives overnight visitation and supports initiatives that enhance the city’s tourism economy.
Position Description
The Marketing Intern will assist Visit Oxnard’s marketing team by contributing to content creation, social media management, public relations efforts, and event promotions. This position is ideal for students or recent graduates eager to gain real-world experience in destination marketing, tourism promotion and hospitality communications.
Core Responsibilities
Marketing, Communications & Social Media
- Assist in creating compelling content for Visit Oxnard’s social media channels, website, blog and email newsletters.
- Research and draft blog posts and landing pages, social media captions, promotional copy, and other written materials.
- Curate and organize creative assets—capturing and editing marketing-quality photography and video to use across media platforms.
- Monitor and engage with Visit Oxnard’s online audiences across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn.
- Support content planning and scheduling, ensuring consistent and timely posting.
- Track social media trends and recommend new, creative ideas to enhance engagement.
- Assist with coordinating influencer visits, media tours and press opportunities to promote Oxnard.
Business Development & Office Support
- Assist with preparing for tradeshows and meeting planner appointment shows, including development of collateral and promotional materials, and pre/post-show communications to help drive group travel.
- Attend occasional community association and stakeholder meetings, industry meetings and board meetings.
- Perform data entry and maintain organized files and databases.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, Hospitality, or a related field.
- Strong writing, communication, and storytelling skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Sked Social, Craft CMS).
- Enthusiasm for tourism, hospitality, and community engagement.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

- Academic credit may be available depending on school requirements.
