Overview
Sloane & Company (“Sloane”) is looking for a driven, self-starter to join the team as an Associate. This role will support Sloane & Company's leadership in building and retaining an exceptional team.
Applicants must be based in our New York office and willing to adhere to our hybrid office policy (in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
As an Associate, you will work with a wide range of clients and support the work of the firm to create deliverables that are creative, strong, and will help meet clients’ goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the client team – be proactive with managing up within the internal team through communicating around tasks, showing initiative and beginning to anticipate the team’s needs;
- Build press lists and develop media relations skills with a manager/team lead’s guidance;
- Facilitate communications around client team workflow, such as scheduling client and internal meetings and drafting agendas and corresponding call recaps;
- Develop basic first drafts of press releases, research assignments; social media content and other written materials, with a manager’s guidance;
- Monitor industry and client media coverage, across broadcast, print, and social and share internally or with the client as directed;
- Learn and begin to master PR tools including Factiva, Critical Mention, Bloomberg Terminal, Cision, Talkwalker, and Businesswire; and
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in writing, research, and media-intensive positions
- Strong writing and research skills with thorough knowledge of AP Style.
- A working knowledge of social media strategies for communications campaigns.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- The ability to effectively manage multiple projects and handle competing deadlines.
- A bachelor's degree with a preference in public relations, communications, business, or marketing.
Benefits
Sloane is committed to pay equity. Sloane believes the target range of base compensation in this role is $68,000. In addition to base salary, Sloane considers other key components as part of total compensation, including but not limited to an annual discretionary bonus, commission on new business, and a comprehensive benefits package. Actual base compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, such as skillset, level of experience, and location.
