- Minimum of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or a related field with at least four courses in Early Childhood Development.
- Minimum of one year of classroom experience with preschool children, preferred.
- Willingness/ability to work as a team member.
- Good organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Ability to document contact notes and curriculum observation notes using designated online systems.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle, and documented proof of current personal vehicle insurance. (Proof to be provided annually.)
- Must be insurable by PLC’s vehicle insurance company.
- A sincere commitment to the philosophy of Head Start and the objective of an Early Childhood Intervention program.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check that includes criminal (federal and state), child abuse, sex offender (national and state), motor vehicle, and reference checks.
General Description: This position serves as the lead educator in a Head Start classroom consisting of preschool-aged children ages 3-5 years. The Head Start Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating educational environment for preschool-aged children enrolled in the Head Start program. The teacher will implement the designated curricula and plan and facilitate daily activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child, in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and state regulations. The role involves close collaboration with the Teacher Assistant, families, other educators, community partners, and support staff to ensure that each child receives comprehensive and individualized support. Teachers will work with children from a variety of backgrounds and with a variety of developmental levels, including children with special needs, and those with IEPs and CSPs. The Head Start Teacher will be observed by staff, a third party, and via video for compliance, training, and coaching purposes.
