Assistant Store Manager
Title: Assistant Store Manager
Full Time: 35-40 hours per week
Hours: Tuesday – Saturday Daytime Hours
Sun- Off, Mon- Off, Tues- 8am-5pm, Wed- 8am-5pm, Thu- 8am-5pm, Fri- 8am-5pm, Sat- 8am-3pm, with occasional Mondays and evenings if needed due to business needs.

Reports to: Store Manager
Primary Role: Assist the Store Manager in the day-to-day operations of Habitat ReStore in Wausau, WI. The Habitat ReStore is a retail business that sells donated building materials, furniture, and appliances at discounted prices to generate revenue to support Habitat for Humanity of Wausau in its mission to build homes, communities, and hope. The Store Manager and Assistant Manager are responsible for the overall business performance of the store with priority responsibilities on the acquisition, sale, and marketing of quality donated building materials of a volume necessary to achieve sales targets; the planning and execution of an effective and efficient receiving process; and HR duties such as hiring, training, and supervision of volunteers and store staff.
Responsibilities and duties included with this role are diverse and there will be a good amount of variety within the workday. Someone who is well-rounded and shows exceptional multitasking skills will certainly thrive in this position. Delegation within their own team and cooperation with other affiliates and functions of Habitat for Humanity of Wausau (e.g. volunteers, fellow staff, Board of Directors, partners, etc.) will be crucial. Job functions included, but not limited to, are:
Operational:
· Assist Store Manager in procuring donations and driving sales/profits of Wausau ReStore to provide sustainable funding to support Habitat for Humanity of Wausau’s mission.
· Assist Store Manager in management of the Wausau ReStore social media advertising including planning and executing daily/weekly posts to promote donations, sales and events.
· Establish and maintain relationships with potential and existing donors, including contractors, suppliers, individuals, businesses, community, and church groups to increase quality and quantity of merchandise donations.
· Assist Store Manager in ensuring all policies and procedures are followed to allow for safe, secure, and high-quality performance of all aspects of stores activities.
· Be knowledgeable in the POS system and can operate and train new volunteers and staff.
· In partnership with the Store Manager assist in the effective merchandising of the salesfloor, maximizing available display space. Assist in inventory control and pricing to ensure appropriate turnover of merchandise.
· Ensure that all areas of the store and warehouse are clean and safe. Assure maintenance of facility, grounds, vehicles, tools, and equipment.
· Attend and participate in all training opportunities provided by Habitat for Humanity.
· Assist in hiring and training of store staff; establish annual performance goals for each and monitor performance results, formally reporting results at least annually.
· Additional duties as requested by the Executive Director to support organizational mission.
Volunteer Management:
· Work in partnership with affiliate staff and store manager to recruit, train and engage volunteers in meaningful ways.
· Guide and assist volunteers in their work, understanding that each is an individual with different capabilities.
· Train new volunteers and staff to deliver high quality, consistent customer service experience in the store to ensure issues are professionally resolved and reported in a timely basis.
· Provide direction and supervision for store staff and volunteers, (operations, salvage, office/clerical staff, donation pick-up drivers, and counter sales assistant) including corporate and community service volunteers.
Finance & Administration:
· Ensure compliance with all financial reporting practices: reconciling of daily sales and the daily closing out of all financial transactions.
· Assist Store Manager in evaluating and creating pricing policies and processes for store merchandise. Review and adjust pricing as necessary for changing market conditions in partnership with Store Manager.
· Assist in ensuring expenses are maintained and held in line with budget goals.
· Track sales data to determine categories with high to low volume and adjust procurement strategies to meet customer demand.
Reporting and Communication:
· Work closely with the Store Manager to coordinate weekly and monthly schedules for staff and volunteers that meet the needs of the business as well as long-term planning for volunteer needs.
· Coordinate with Store Manager on in-kind donation requests from area contractors, suppliers, and businesses.
· Ensure the Store Manager is informed on a regular basis of progress and challenges.
Performance Indicators:

Qualifications and Skills:
· Experience with supervising and directing staff.
· Experience in a retail environment
· Knowledge of building materials a plus
· Demonstrated ability in training, managing, leading, and developing people.
· Working knowledge in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook,
· Ability to assist in maintaining various social media platforms.
· Valid WI driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
· Attention to detail and overall quality control.
· Dedication to and ability to articulate the mission and core values of Habitat for Humanity of Wausau.
· Demonstrated administrative, communication, financial and leadership skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills, dealing well with a variety of people, personalities, and backgrounds.
· Excellent written and verbal communication and public relations skills.
· Physical ability to perform tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods at a time.
· Pass a required background and credit check.
