Head of Operations Engineering

A leading manufacturing organization in Morgantown, WV is seeking an experienced Head of Operations Engineering to oversee engineering operations, drive efficiency, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. This role requires a seasoned engineering leader with deep manufacturing experience and a strong track record in capital project management, process optimization, and technical team leadership.

The Head of Operations Engineering will play a critical role in shaping organizational strategy, improving productivity, and aligning engineering operations with long-term business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of processes, systems, and resource allocation within the Engineering Department to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations

Monitor, analyze, and report on engineering efficiency KPIs, driving continuous improvements aligned with organizational objectives

Lead targeted process and facility improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and increase overall productivity

Build, manage, and monitor key budgets including CapEx, training, and support/consulting

Oversee the strategic and tactical workflow of the Engineering team

Recruit, interview, develop, and mentor Engineering department staff

Delegate tasks and assign responsibilities based on expertise, workload, and project timelines

Ensure engineering practices meet applicable regulatory, safety, and design standards

Support long-term operational planning and alignment with business needs

Required Experience & Qualifications

Manufacturing experience required

10+ years of related engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

5–7 years of experience managing capital projects, budgets, timelines, and engineering/maintenance initiatives

Strong understanding of engineering operations, systems, and continuous improvement methods

Ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects and lead technical teams

Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

Strong knowledge of FDA and PMO design requirements

Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within the food industry

Experience working with equipment containing electromagnetic components
