Grants & Fundraising Intern

Please note this role is for currently enrolled students who will be receiving class credit for the internship. Compensation for this position is an end of semester stipend (one-time payment) in the amount of $825.00.

About the Internship

LifeWorks is looking for a Grants & Fundraising Intern for the Spring 2026 semester. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a focus on targeted donor research and tailoring outreach and messaging strategies to align with donor priorities and interests. You will also support other aspects of the donor lifecycle, including helping craft and execute stewardship strategies to keep donors informed and engaged.

 

This is a role that is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, an interest in building research and communication skills, and a commitment to social impact. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Funder Research: Assist in research projects to identify grant funders and assess whether their interests and priorities align with LifeWorks programmatic needs.
  • Funder Analysis: Identify key stakeholders affiliated with prospective funders and use various research methods to identify their interests and potential connections to other LifeWorks stakeholders.
  • Proposal Support: Organize data and assist in developing case statements and written content for grant applications.
  • Communication and Stewardship: Help develop customized stewardship plans to keep grant funders informed and engaged, including email outreach, development of impact reports, and coordination of site visits.
  • Project Support: Assist with additional fundraising projects as needed, which may include supporting LifeWorks Capital Campaign, coordinating public events tailored for donors, and assisting with external communications.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks such as organizing information and files in LifeWorks digital file storage system.

What You’ll Gain

  • Learn fundamental skills in nonprofit fundraising, including donor identification and cultivation, crafting and submitting funding proposals, and effectively stewarding donors for continued engagement.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams bringing together staff from various disciplines and backgrounds to achieve common goals.
  • Professional communication skills, with an emphasis on creating clear and concise written content.

 

Who We’re Looking For

  • A current student in business, journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and grammar.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 
  • Familiarity with database research is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.   
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.   
  • Self-starter with a collaborative spirit.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn.
