Literary Agency Intern
The Robbins Office, Inc. is a boutique agency that represents authors of both upmarket nonfiction and literary and commercial fiction, published by major trade houses with particular strengths in narrative non-fiction, history, biography, memoir, and current affairs.
We are seeking a part-time intern who can join us in our Midtown Manhattan office 2 days per week (preferably Tuesdays and Thursdays) for approximately January through May 2026. This is a paid opportunity. Candidates must have US work authorization.
Responsibilities may include:
-Administrative tasks, such as mailings, printing, data entry, scanning, office organization, filing, and assistance managing the agency’s calendar
-Working closely with the assistant to the President of the agency on a range of tasks like fielding publicity, blurb requests, and unsolicited submissions
-Communication with authors, publishers, and other agents, with supervision from The Robbins Office colleagues
-Reading and writing detailed reports on solicited manuscripts and working with agents to provide feedback to authors
-Preparing and posting website and social media content — including ongoing updates to the website’s backlist
Candidates should be enthusiastic self-starters, avid readers with strong writing and organizational skills, and have an enthusiastic, friendly manner. Those interested in a career in the publishing industry are encouraged to apply. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Wordpress, and Dropbox (or other server systems) preferred.
