IRS VITA Administration and Client Reception 25-26
The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program and Tax Counseling for Elderly (TCE) Program at Hartwick College provide FREE income tax preparation and filling services ALL YEAR to low-to-moderate income individuals and families, including those facing physical and other disabilities, international residents, and foreign students & scholars unfamiliar with US tax laws. The services are provided by IRS-certified Hartwick Students and coordinated by their Assistant Accounting Professor (CPA). Hartwick College VITA site also connects families to programs and services that can help them maximize their after-tax benefits, such as tax refunds, matched savings programs, budget coaching, financial education, and other benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These people perform Administration and Client Reception activities at both the program coordination level and site level. Administrative and Clerical support includes such activities as:
- Communicate effectively with taxpayers for
- Assist and support the site coordinator to
- Ensure the program's adherence to all IRS guidelines and rules.
- Help to manage the supplies and materials from the IRS and Hartwick College:
- Completing additional related tasks when requested.
- Appointment scheduling,
- Greet and welcome taxpayers coming to the site and
- Screen and confirm on-site taxpayers have required tax documents for tax returns
- manage workflow
- facilitate sign-in and intake of clients
- copy materials for volunteers
- maintain volunteer information and timekeeping records
- keep files and supplies organized;
- ensure necessary supplies are in place for each tax session;
- help volunteers locate files, forms, and supplies.
Qualifications:
The ideal Administration and Client Reception performer will have the following education and skill requirements:
- Required to pass IRS Code of Conduct (Ethics) certification.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting and to work under pressure.
- Knowledge of basic computer hardware and software applications, including email, Internet, Microsoft Office, and Google Calendar.
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Taken U.S. Government & Politics (POSC-101), Freedom Equality and Power (POSC-107), and other equivalent courses related to the Bill of Civil Rights are preferred.
