Chemist Intern

Fenner Precision Polymers has an exciting internship opportunity with the Fenner New Product Textile Engineering Team at Manheim/Lititz, PA. The successful candidate will be responsible for product/process/testing needs for the textile product category. 

As part of the New Product Development Team, you will ……. 

S/he will be responsible for collaborating with various departments to: 

  • Conduct lab testing on Polyurethanes, Silicones and textiles according to product development needs 
  • Help develop, setup and execute experiments for new technologies for our products 
  • Operate computer-controlled test equipment and analyze data 
  • Technical documentation: 
  • Update specifications for our products 
  • Write analytical reports based on experimentation conducted 
  • Develop new tests and document the associated work instructions 
  • R&D projects 
  • Alternative fabrics – quartz, MWPE, etc. – applications, testing

  • Demonstrated ability to…. 
  • Utilize basic chemistry competencies in evaluating and testing products 
  • Record and interpret measured properties of lab tests 
  • Proven skills in… 
  • Chemistry principles – stress, strain, coefficient of friction, etc.

  • Basic lab equipment and software – MTS, hot presses, Microsoft package, etc.

Education and/or Relative Experience:  

  • A minimum of 2 years of college in a related field.
