Summer Intern - St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center Business/Marketing/Office Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: The St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center is part of UW-River Falls and is a private, non-profit enterprise supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses.
HOURS: 8:00-5:00 M-F (Times very flexible within these business hours - time off/vacation time is allowed)
Candidate(s) would ideally work 6-10hr/wk during school year starting in April and stay on summer to 20-30 depending on number of interns. Could be an opportunity to formally make this an internship (for credit or not). Ideal candidate graduates May 2027 or later.
RESPONSIBILITIES
A. (40%) Marketing, Communications, and Event Preparation
1. Assist/lead the creation and maintenance of physical and digital marketing
2. Assist/lead setup, promotion, and takedown for events, as needed
3. Assist/lead digital marketing efforts including social media, newsletters, and basic website updates.
4. Research – competition, various business needs, networks, projects as needed
B. (40%) Front Desk Lead
1. Greet guests upon arrival, check them in, and guide them to the appropriate location within the facility
2. Answer the phone and email for the Center and answer basic questions about the facility and programs.
4. Assist and answer questions from guests, clients, tenants, and members as needed.
5. Receive and deliver mail items and packages to clients and members as needed.
6. Assist with reservations of training and conference rooms using the digital reservations system.
7. Walk through the facility upon arrival and departure to maintain a professional look of furnishings and other common areas. (ex. Water Plants, light weeding, recycle old newspapers/magazines, wipe down tabletops and countertops, sink, microwave, clean out the fridge, clean coffee pot, etc.)
C. (20%) Facility Operations
1. Assist clients, guests, and members with basic technology/equipment questions including the projection screens in the conference and training rooms and printer/other devices.
2. Order supplies for the facility
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
2. Strong organizational and time management skills, specifically a self starter.
3. Curious, Idea generator, and action/execution-oriented.
4. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team-oriented and individual environment
5. Customer Service experience
6. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office suite and other software programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Salesforce, etc.) and be open to learning Wix, and Zoho.
7. Bonus if you know InDesign/Canva/Wix other Marketing Design Software
