Policy Intern
Sahiyo is looking for an individual to assist in policy research, and coordinating educational meetings with advocates, organizations, and legislators to increase awareness about female genital cutting (FGC). We are currently looking for individuals to commit 10 hr minimum per week for 6 months. This is a remote unpaid internship that can be done from anywhere within the U.S.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Attending meetings with advocates, organizations, and legislators as needed
- Coordinating meetings, including agendas and notes
- Creating materials for outreach and education
- Drafting communications for social media
Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Hardworking, driven, energetic, results-oriented, and independent but able to keep in contact with the team
- Eager to learn about the issue, with a focus on engaging with the community in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner
- Able to prioritize, organize, manage time well, and deliver to agreed deadlines
