About the Internship:

The Office of Congressman Hank Johnson is seeking motivated, professional, and community-oriented interns to join our district team. Interns gain firsthand experience in public service, constituent relations, legislative support, and community outreach. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in government, public policy, social justice, or community engagement.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting with constituent casework and community outreach projects
  • Supporting staff with federal-related issues, nonprofit, and grants outreach portfolios
  • Helping coordinate congressional programs to include event planning, logistics, and staffing district events
  • Managing office communication, drafting correspondence, and answering constituent inquiries
  • Maintaining databases, tracking casework, and organizing office files
  • Participating in staff meetings and contributing to district projects
  • Maintaining and stocking office supply and drink areas

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Interest in public service, government, community development, or advocacy
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail
  • Comfort interacting with constituents from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Familiarity with Georgia’s 4th Congressional District is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Teachable and collaborative

Time Commitment: 18–30 hours/week (flexible schedule).

Compensation: Monthly stipend; eligible for academic credit depending on institution.
