Bear Educator Intern (Fall)

Responsibilities:  ● Assist in captive black bear care by: feeding and food preparation, maintaining a feeding schedule and following seasonal diet guidelines, habitat maintenance, and providing enrichment  ● Engage our guests in conversation, answer questions, and help direct them to info and exhibits within the NABC museum  ● Assist in programming for our guests in a professional manner by guiding behind the scenes tours, programs, and online live broadcasts  ● Continued learning of all educational information provided by the NABC and staff ● Completion of an independent intern project  ● Other duties as assigned ● Please note: We are a no-contact facility. You will not be in physical contact with any of the bears under any circumstances.

 

Qualifications and preferred skills:  ● Currently enrolled (or recently graduated) in a college/university pursuing a degree in Natural Resources, Biology, Zoology, Ecology, Animal Behavior, Conservation, or related field. 18+ years of age  ● Eagerness to learn about animals and their environments. ● Comfortable with public speaking and communication.  ● Comfortable completing duties and living with people of different diverse backgrounds ● Comfortable completing duties outdoors in a variety of conditions and terrain 

 

Hours: 40+ hours a week. This includes weekends and holidays  Stipend: $1500 at completion of internship (500 hours). Off-site housing is included (with all amenities)
