Communications & Operations Intern

The UT Office of Advancement is seeking a digital communications intern to join our Advancement Operations team. This paid internship will contribute to internal and external communications initiatives. This is an opportunity to be involved with high-profile projects that impact the entire Volunteer family and elevate Rocky Top, while building a portfolio of digital communications work.


Responsibilities include:

  1. Draft and create PowerPoint Presentations 
  2. Write content for newsletters, bios, cards, and other communications pieces 
  3. Create and design digital newsletters within the Emma email platform  
  4. Monitor alumni stories from internal and external news sources and curate content ideas for newsletter needs
  5. Maintain and update email databases and help with the advancement SharePoint 
  6. Create creative content for social media accounts – Instagram, LinkedIn, X 
  7. Assist with digital displays 
  8. Attend select on-campus events, assisting with digital promotion 
  9. Assist other advancement team operations members
  10. Other duties as assigned  


Details:

  • $12/hour
  • Up to 15 hours per week
  • Spring 2026, with the option to continue through summer and the following academic year
  • Office location: Andy Holt Tower, 1331 Circle Park Drive, with option for hybrid work schedule

  4. Form relationships with UT alumni, leadership, and faculty/staff, while building stronger interpersonal communication skills, as well as interviewing skills, in a professional setting
